नागपुर, माता, नवजात बालक व किशोरवयीन बालक-बालिकाओं में एचआईवी संक्रमण के संबंध में मेडिकल में अंतरराष्ट्रीय अनुसंधान केंद्र को 7 वर्षों के लिए मंजूर मिली है. लेकिन कोरोना संकट काल में सभी विभागों का एक ही जगह ध्यान होने से केंद्र तैयार नहीं हो सका. अमेरिका के नेशनल इन्स्टीट्यूट ऑफ हेल्थ (एनआईएच) की ओर से इसके लिए आर्थिक मदद मिलने वाली है. मेडिकल में उपलब्ध साधन-सुविधा, मरीजों की संख्या, गुणवत्तापूर्ण विशेषज्ञ व प्रशिक्षित कर्मचारियों को देखते हुए ‘क्रिटिकल ट्रायल यूनिट’ (सीटीयू) को एनआईएच ने मान्यता दी है.
अंतरराष्ट्रीय अनुसंधान के लिए चयनित होने वाला देश का एकमात्र मेडिकल कॉलेज है. पुणे की ‘नारी’ स्वयंसेवी संस्था को भी इसी तरह की मंजूरी मिली है. केंद्र के लिए दुनियाभर के 150 देशों ने प्रस्ताव भेजा था. इसमें मेडिकल को अंतरराष्ट्रीय अनुसंधान केंद्र के रूप में मान्यता दी गई. इस केंद्र के माध्यम से माता, नवजात बालक व किशोरवयीन बालक-बालिकाओं में एचआईवी के बारे में अनुसंधान किया जाना है. इस संबंध में प्रस्ताव वैज्ञानिक सलाहकार समिति के पास भेजा गया है या नहीं, यह मालूम नहीं हो सका. इसके बाद प्रस्ताव एनआईएच को भेजा जाना था. लेकिन मामला कहां अटक गया है, यह बताने को कोई तैयार नहीं है.
संक्रमण को कम करना ही उद्देश्य
ससून अस्पताल और अमेरिका के जॉन्स हॉपकिन्स विश्वविद्यालय की ओर से एचआईवी संक्रमणग्रस्त गर्भवती महिलाओं के उपचार के लिए हाल ही में एक प्रकल्प पूरा किया गया है. एचआईवी बाधित गर्भवती माताओं से होने वाले नवजात को भी संक्रमण हो सकता है. यह प्रमाण 35 फीसदी है. इसे कम करने के लिए ‘नेवीरैपिन’ नामक दवाई एचआईवी बाधित गर्भवती महिलाओं की दी जाती है. साथ ही जन्म के बाद एचआईवी बाधित माता के स्तन पान से भी संक्रमण का खतरा रहता है. इस वजह से बालकों को भी यह दवाई दी जाती है. सितंबर २०२० के अंत तक अनुसंधान का विश्‍लेषण पूर्ण किया जाना था. लेकिन कोरोना की वजह से प्रकल्प को गति नहीं मिल सकी.
केंद्र के माध्यम से किए जाने थे यह कार्य
केंद्र के माध्यम से एचआईवी बाधित गर्भवती महिलाओं पर अनुसंधान किया था. साथ ही एचआईवी गर्भवती का सीजर करने पर नवजात पर होने वाले परिणाम का अनुसंधान, नवजात अर्भक को एचआईवी संक्रमण से दूर रखने उपचार पद्धति पर अनुसंधान और  एचआईवी बाधित किशोरवयीन बालक-बालिकाओं पर प्रभावी औषधोपचार की खोज केंद्र में होना था.(UNA)
