तमिलनाडु कांग्रेस कमिटी के कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष और कन्याकुमारी लोकसभा सीट के सांसद एच. वसंतकुमार का शुक्रवार शाम कोरोना के कारण निधन हो गया। 70 वर्षीय वसंतकुमार कोरोना से संक्रमित होने के बाद चेन्नै के अपोलो अस्पताल में अपना इलाज करा रहे थे। उनके निधन पर पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी ने दुख जताते हुए उनके साथ अपनी तस्वीर ट्विटर पर शेयर की है। अपने शोक संदेश में पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी ने लिखा, ‘मैं लोकसभा सांसद एच. वसंतकुमार जी के निधन का समाचार सुनकर दु:खी हूं। व्यापार और समाज सेवा के क्षेत्र में उनका विशेष योगदान रहा है। जब भी मेरी उनसे बात हुई, मैंने तमिलनाडु के विकास के प्रति उनके जुनून को करीब से देखा। मेरी संवेदनाएं उनके परिवार और समर्थकों के साथ हैं। ओम शांति।’ कांग्रेस पार्टी ने भी जताई संवेदना- वहीं कांग्रेस पार्टी ने भी वसंतकुमार के निधन पर दुख जताते हुए अपनी संवेदना व्यक्त की है। कांग्रेस पार्टी ने अपने आधिकारिक ट्विटर हैंडल पर लिखा, हम एक दृढ़ कांग्रेसी, सच्चे जननेता और लोकप्रिय सांसद एच. वसंतकुमार के असामयिक निधन से दुखी हैं। कांग्रेस पार्टी के सभी कार्यकर्ता और उनके समर्थकों को उनकी कमी महसूस होगी। हम इस दुख की घड़ी में उनके परिवार के लिए प्रार्थना करते हैं।
कांग्रेस पार्टी ने भी जताया शोक- 10 अगस्त को अपोलो अस्पताल में कराया गया था भर्ती
जानकारी के अनुसार, एच. वसंतकुमार को 10 अगस्त को चेन्नै के अपोलो अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था। बाद में उनकी हालत गंभीर हो गई थी और वह निमोनिया से भी ग्रसित हो गए थे। वसंतकुमार की तबीयत बिगड़ने के बाद उन्हें वेंटीलेटर पर रखा गया था। वसंतकुमार के परिवार में उनकी पत्नी और बेटे विजय वसंत हैं। वसंतकुमार की पत्नी भी कोरोना के कारण अपना इलाज करा रही हैं।
नंगूनेरी से विधायक और कन्याकुमारी से सांसद रहे वसंतकुमार- 14 अप्रैल 1950 को कन्याकुमारी में जन्मे वसंतकुमार 2006 में तमिलनाडु की नंगूनेरी सीट से विधायक बने थे। इसके बाद वह 2011 में विधानसभा चुनाव हार गए थे। 2014 में वह कन्याकुमारी लोकसभा सीट से उम्मीदवार बनाए गए थे, लेकिन वहां भी उन्हें बीजेपी नेता पी. राधाकृष्णन से हार का सामना करना पड़ा। 2016 में वसंतकुमार फिर से नंगूनेरी से विधायक बने और फिर 2019 में वह कन्याकुमारी से सांसद बने।(UNA)
